Cynthia Summers is an Emmy-winning Costume Designer based in Los Angeles and Vancouver. She is best known for her brilliant and unique style-eye in world building and bringing characters to life, whether they are modern day and fashion-driven or fantastical creatures taken from the pages of a book. Cynthia is inspired by the spirit of character in creating cohesive looks that resonate for each individual within the world that they inhabit.
Cynthia recently completed work on HBO’s highly anticipated James Gunn-led Series LANTERNS starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in the origin story for DC’s two most well known Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
She has previously crafted world-building premier seasons for Netflix’s John Wells produced series UNTAMED starring Eric Bana and Sam Neill, and HBO’s Emmy-Nominated adaptation of THE LAST OF US, created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, which both landed to great acclaim. Cynthia also completed work on the Apple Original film SWAN SONG, with Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Glenn Close, Naomie Harris, and Awkwafina.
Cynthia won an Emmy Award in Outstanding Costume Design for her work on Netflix’s first season of THE BABY-SITTERS’ CLUB. Her stand out designs for the second and third seasons of Netflix’s Emmy-Nominated series LEMONY SNICKET’S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, starring Neil Patrick Harris, have won five CAFTCAD awards, as well as nominations for two Costume Designer’s Guild Awards, and two Primetime Emmys in Outstanding Fantasy/Sci Fi Costumes. She was also nominated for a Costume Designer’s Guild award for Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Television for SNOWPIERCER Season 1, starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs. Cynthia has designed looks for the second season of NETFLIX’S cyberpunk-noir sci-fi series ALTERED CARBON starring Anthony Mackie, all 5 seasons of Bravo’s breakout hit and first scripted series GIRLFRIENDS’ GUIDE TO DIVORCE and all 6 groundbreaking seasons of Showtime’s Emmy-nominated series THE L WORD, for which she was the recipient of the Hollywood Style Award.
Cynthia’s outstanding and diverse resume of 60+ credits includes FOX’s Emmy-winning series BONES, GOOSEBUMPS S1, RESIDENT ALIEN S1, the prequel cadet academy world of HALO 4: FORWARD UNTO DAWN as well as her film work including BEAUTIFUL BOY, APOLLO 18 and DOUBLE HAPPINESS.
